Easy Chicken Tikka Masala Recipe

Chicken Tikka Masala

Serves: 4-6 people

Ingredients:

For the Chicken Marinade:

  • 500 gm boneless chicken, cut into cubes
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice

For the Masala Gravy:

  • 3 large tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup cream
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Fresh coriander for garnish

Instructions:

Step 1: Marinate the Chicken

  1. In a large bowl, mix yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric, garam masala, lemon juice, and salt.
  2. Add chicken cubes, coat well, and let marinate for at least 1-2 hours.

Step 2: Cook the Chicken

  1. Grill the marinated chicken on skewers or cook in a pan until it’s golden and slightly charred.

Step 3: Prepare the Masala Gravy

  1. Heat butter in a pan. Add cumin seeds, sauté onions until golden brown.
  2. Add ginger-garlic paste and cook until the raw smell goes away.
  3. Add chopped tomatoes, red chili powder, turmeric, coriander powder, and salt. Cook until the oil separates from the masala.
  4. Blend the mixture into a smooth paste for a creamy texture.

Step 4: Combine Chicken & Gravy

  1. Return the blended mixture to the pan, add cream, and mix well.
  2. Add the cooked chicken pieces to the gravy. Let it simmer for 10-15 minutes on low heat to absorb the flavors.
  3. Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot with naan or rice.
