Chicken Tikka Masala
Serves: 4-6 people
Ingredients:
For the Chicken Marinade:
- 500 gm boneless chicken, cut into cubes
- 1 cup yogurt
- 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 2 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
For the Masala Gravy:
- 3 large tomatoes, finely chopped
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup cream
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp butter
- Fresh coriander for garnish
Instructions:
Step 1: Marinate the Chicken
- In a large bowl, mix yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric, garam masala, lemon juice, and salt.
- Add chicken cubes, coat well, and let marinate for at least 1-2 hours.
Step 2: Cook the Chicken
- Grill the marinated chicken on skewers or cook in a pan until it’s golden and slightly charred.
Step 3: Prepare the Masala Gravy
- Heat butter in a pan. Add cumin seeds, sauté onions until golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and cook until the raw smell goes away.
- Add chopped tomatoes, red chili powder, turmeric, coriander powder, and salt. Cook until the oil separates from the masala.
- Blend the mixture into a smooth paste for a creamy texture.
Step 4: Combine Chicken & Gravy
- Return the blended mixture to the pan, add cream, and mix well.
- Add the cooked chicken pieces to the gravy. Let it simmer for 10-15 minutes on low heat to absorb the flavors.
- Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot with naan or rice.
